No changes in speed limits on roads planned

Changes in the speed limits on roads are not expected in Azerbaijan, Spokesman for the Cenrtal State Traffic Police Department of the Interior Ministry, Kamran Aliyev told Trend news agency.

"To increase speed limits the road segments should completely meet the requirements of road safety," Aliyev noted.

Different settings and other road elements which can restrict access to pedestrians can be noted as safety providing means, he added.

Currently, the maximum speed on Azerbaijan's highways amounts to 110 kilometres per hour, on other roads it is 90 kilometres per hour, in settlements - 60 kilometres per hour and in residential zones - 20 kilometres per hour.
