Ambassador: Technical failure or provocation caused miscalculation
of Azerbaijani votes for Russia's Eurovision singer

Wrong counting of votes from Azerbaijan for the Russian singer at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 is either a technical failure or elementary provocation, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu says.

"Under a court decision, all three providers of the country opened their data. Azercell Company got 1677 votes for Dina Garipova, Bakcell - 380 and Nar Mobile Company - 112 votes. These are recorded. There is no need to juggle them. Can you believe that nobody from Russia gave any points to Belarus? As a creative person I can tell you that it is impossible that no one in Azerbaijan voted for the Russian singer. We have common cultural roots. Many people in Azerbaijan were outraged," Bulbuloglu said in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda commenting on the disappearance of votes from Azerbaijan for Russian singer Dina Garipova at the contest.

After the incident the European Broadcasting Union issued a statement saying that the results of the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 cannot be reconsidered.

According to Bulbuloglu, it is a closed contest where in general one cannot understand who and for what it votes.

"Let them explain to people what constitutes the scores that are broadcast. I would like to stress that every call is money. Why should one call cost almost $1.5? Azerbaijan gave Dina more than 2000 votes. Where is this money and these voices? Let the European Broadcasting Union answer," Bulbuloglu said.
