OSCE begins events ahead of presidential elections in Azerbaijan

The OSCE Office in Baku has begun to organise activities for the upcoming presidential elections in Azerbaijan, the head of the Baku Office Koray Targay told Trend news agency.

"The meetings are being held both in Baku and the regions and we are organising roundtables. These meetings are held in conjunction with the Administration of the President of Azerbaijan and the Central Election Commission (CEC). A series of conferences with the participation of all political parties will be held on the eve of the elections," Targay said.

"We make no distinction between pro-government and opposition parties. Therefore, all political forces will be invited to our roundtables," he said.

As for inviting OSCE observers to these meetings, Targay noted it was not within the competence of the Baku office.

The presidential election in Azerbaijan is scheduled for this autumn.
