Deputy head of the Finance Department at Qafqaz University, a private university in Azerbaijan's capital Baku, Elchin Suleymanov, has been listed among the world's most well-known researchers.

Professor Suleymanov is the author of more than 60 theses and scientific articles published in foreign publications and co-author of 4 books. He is a member of Index Copernicus International Web-based Research Infrastructure, New York Academy of Sciences, World Academy of Sciences, and Engineering and Technology Academia, as well as a community of scholars and students engaged in higher education and research.

Suleymanov took the 16th place among 30,000 researchers in the latest rating developed by one of the most popular research centers in the world -- the Social Science Research Network (SSRN).

He was honored to be a foreign researcher among the American and Western European researchers in the top 100 list, where more than 40 scientists were awarded with Nobel Prize and most popular researchers in social sciences were listed.

Suleymanov managed to enter the ranking due to the download and citation index of his 30 articles.

The index also raised the rating of Qafqaz University on the top 1,600 Entrepreneurship Research & Policy Network of SSRN: currently Qafqaz University is rated the 338th while in 2012 the university ranked only 2250th.

Qafqaz University is the only university among the universities in the Commonwealth of Independent States countries that entered the list of the world's top 400 universities.

The SSRN is a website devoted to the rapid dissemination of scholarly research in social sciences and humanities. Founded in 1994, SSRN is viewed as particularly strong in the fields of economics, finance, accounting, management, law, internet security, browser security and internet safety.

According to the rating of the Ranking Web of World Repositories (an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group that belongs to the Spanish National Research Council), the SSRN is ranked first among 1,222 open access repositories in the world.

There are more than 500,000 articles of 220,000 researchers in the SSRN database. Scientific publications of universities such as Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, London Business School, as well as international finance institutions such as International Monetary Fund, World Bank, and European Bank of Reconstruction and Development are also included in this database.
