Bodies of missing Azerbaijani climbers handed over to their families

Bodies of Farida Jabrailzade, Babur Huseynov and Namin Buniyatzade, the mountaineers who went missing in the mountainous area of Azerbaijan’s Guba district, were found near Tufandag Mountain under the snow at a depth of four meters and were handed over to their families, Department of Forensic Medical Examination and Anatomical Pathology of the Guba District Healthcare Ministry told Trend May 17.

Previously, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan said that searches for climbers Farida Jabrailzade, Babur Huseynov and Namin Buniyatzade - the three members of the Gilavar Air and Extreme Sports Club - revealed three corpses, their tent and other things that belonging to them.

On Dec. 23, 2017, Jabrailzade, Huseynov and Buniyatzade went on a hike from the village of Khynalyg of Guba region in the direction of the Tufandag mountain's peak, and were due to return on Dec. 26. Communication with them was lost.

As noted in the joint statement of the Prosecutor General's Office and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Grave Crimes Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan opened a criminal case under Article 314.2 (negligence entailing serious consequences by inadvertence) in connection with the missing climbers.
