Georgian President: Azerbaijan closest friend, strategic partner of Georgia
“Azerbaijan is the closest friend and strategic partner of Georgia,” said Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili as he met with chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade in Tbilisi.
President Giorgi Margvelashvili hailed the role of religious leaders in strengthening peace and tranquility in the region. The Georgian leader stressed the importance of Allahshukur Pashazade`s visit to Tbilisi.
The President praised the role of Azerbaijanis living in Georgia in the country`s political, economic and cultural life. Giorgi Margvelashvili described the appointment of Mehriban Aliyeva as First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan as a remarkable step towards a democratic state-building. He asked Allahshukur Pashazade to extend his greetings to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
The chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office extended greetings of the President of Azerbaijan to the Georgian leader. He noted that Azerbaijan is a tolerant country. Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade said Azerbaijan is interested in overall development of relations with neighboring countries.
