Birthday of prominent film director to be marked

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on holding the 100th anniversary of Tofig Tagizade.
February 7, 2019 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of a prominent Azerbaijani film director, Honored Art Worker, People’s Artist Tofig Tagizade.
The Cabinet of Ministers is tasked to resolve issues arising from this order.
Tofig Tagizade was born in a family of teachers. He was raised in an atmosphere of love for art, for five years he studied at the music school. After graduation, he entered the the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy.
But he dropped the Academy as he volunteered for the front of the Second World War. After being wounded, he was demobilized. The love to the cinema induced him to enter the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography.
As a director with a unique talent, Tofig Tagizade, brought important innovations to Azerbaijani cinematography and left a deep mark in the history of national culture.
A series of his works on various themes, including the films "Arshin Mal Alan", My seven sons" and "Dede Gorgud" are bright examples of art included in the golden fund of Azerbaijani cinema.
