An exhibition "Shirvanshahs' Heritage in the World's Museums" solemnly opened at the Palace of the Shirvanshahs on October 23.
The event is organized by Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve in the framework of the international scientific conference "Journey from modern Azerbaijan to the Historical State of the Shirvanshahs", Trend Life reported.
Scientists and historians have conducted extensive work to identify patterns of national art that are stored in various museums around the world.
It was revealed that part of the Shirvanshahs heritage is included in the collections of such world museums as the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Istanbul Military Museum (ƏskƏri muzeyi), the Topgapi Palace Museum (Topqapı Sarayi Muzeyi), Metropolitan Museum (New York), the Museum of Islamic Culture in Berlin, the State Hermitage Museum, the Museum of the Institute for the Study of the Arab World (Paris), the British Library in London, which houses 15th century miniatures, the manuscript Anthology of Shirvan (1468).
Also, the most important exhibits relating to this period of history are kept in the Azerbaijan National History Museum.
The exhibition presents unique exhibits that have been delivered to Azerbaijan, thanks to successful negotiations and fruitful cooperation of Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve with several of the largest museums in the world.
The return of the most valuable exhibits and artifacts of the Shirvanshahs to Azerbaijan, even for a short time, is an important historical event!
The exposition is based on exhibits from the Istanbul Military Museum (Əskəri muzeyi).
Visitors to the exhibition are given the opportunity to see for themselves the unique collection of helmets with inscriptions-parting words. The exhibits of the Georgian National Museum of History have replenished the exhibition with magnificently preserved boilers, which were a mandatory attribute of the Turkic army and had multifunctional significance. Of no less interest are two tiles from the tomb of Pir-Hussein. These unique ceramic facings with inscriptions and paintings are stored in the State Hermitage Museum, as well as the historical museums of Baku and Tbilisi.
The History Museum of Azerbaijan presented the only golden jewelry of the Shirvanshah era, a brooch with rubies and turquoise, found in the grave of Bike Khanim - the wife of Shirvanshah Sheikh Ibrahim (founder of national diplomacy), mother of Shirvanshah Khalilullah I .
The opening of the exhibition is timed the release of the colorful thematic album "Shirvanshahs' Heritage in the World's Museums".
The exhibition "Shirvanshahs' Heritage in the World's Museums" will run until January 23, 2019, from 9.00 to 20.00.
