Bakuvians celebrate Flag Day [PHOTO]

Baku residents celebrated the Day of the National Flag on November 9. This date was established in 2009 to commemorate the anniversary of adoption of the flag of Azerbaijan in 1918.
A number of events, face art, souvenir fair, tree planting were organized by of the Historical and Architectural Reserve "Icherisheher" as part of the celebration.
The project aimed at gardening and attraction of more tourists to the idea of vegetation in the Old City, Day.Az reported.
During the day, guests also enjoyed exhibition of handmade products within Art weekends project, an open-air event with the participation of young artists.
Colorful metal barrels were also put on display.
Earlier, local artists have turned barrels into beautiful pieces of functional art within an environmental art-project "H. E. Art", aimed at greening of Baku.
The project allows to use metal barrels in an environmentally responsible manner as well as to develop creative thinking. Bright painting ideas turn metal barrels into colorful and beautiful yard decorations.
The state flag of Azerbaijan represents a rectangular panel consisting of three equal horizontal bands colored blue, red, and green, with a white crescent and an eight-pointed star are centered in the red band. The ratio of the flag's width to its length is 1:2.
