Agricultural machinery purchases by the Agroleasing company in Azerbaijan more than doubled in 2005-2013, according to an article of the JSC's Board Chairman Ali Bayramov published in the official press early this week.

"In particular, 260 combine harvesters, 330 tractors and 747 units of other agricultural machinery were purchased by the OJSC in 2005. In 2013, a total of 2,700 vehicles - 251 combines, 880 tractors and 1,570 units of other agricultural equipment - were purchased through the joint stock company," Bayramov wrote.

The article says that since the beginning of the company's operations in 2005, a total of 16,485 units of agricultural machinery, including 1,136 combine harvesters, 4,757 tractors, 184 excavators, 10,408 units of other various equipment and trailers, 150 sets of production equipment, 334,360 tons of nitrogen fertilizers, 54,210 tons of superphosphates, and 301.7 tons of pesticides, have been purchased and delivered to the country.

Bayramov further said that more than two-thirds of the purchased equipment was transferred to farmers for leasing.

"Regardless of the form of ownership, 11,029 pieces of equipment - 306 combine harvesters, 3,821 tractors, 112 excavators and 6,790 units of trailers for different purposes - were transferred for lease to 6,286 legal entities and individuals," the article said.

Agroleasing JSC, which is on the balance sheet of the Agriculture Ministry, was established in October 2004. The enterprise focuses on the improvement of the agricultural sector and support for entrepreneurship in the country through the purchase and leasing of various agricultural machines to local landowners.
