Azerbaijan, Turkey eye to exempt supply of goods from duties in 2018

Turkey hopes to introduce a zero rate of customs duty with Azerbaijan in 2018 for the mutual supply of goods, Turkish Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci said on October 31 at the opening ceremony of the new head office of Ziraat Bank in Baku.

He noted that this is stipulated in a preferential trade agreement, the countries plan to sign.

Zeybekci reminded that last week, Turkey exempted goods imported from the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic from customs duties.

According to the decision of the Turkish government, goods worth $100 million, annually produced in Nakhchivan, will be imported into Turkey without paying import duties.

Data of Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee shows that the trade turnover with Turkey amounted to almost $1.96 billion in January-September 2017.
