The State Copyright Agency of Azerbaijan has started a project on labeling of products of intellectual property, the Agency told Trend on September 28.

Labeling of products of intellectual property will significantly reduce the level of piracy, the Agency assures.

Publishing houses of Azerbaijan will be the first to start applying control marks. To this end, on the basis of obtained permit from the Education Ministry of Azerbaijan, control marks are already issued by such publishers as Sharg-Garb, Tahsil Nashriyyat-Poligrafiya, Radius, Aspoligraf Ltd. and Altun-Kitab.

Earlier, the Agency stated that audiovisual works, phonograms, computer programs and data collections will also be marked with control stamps.

Regulation of issuance of control marks to copyright objects will be implemented by the Center for Intellectual Property Rights under the State Copyright Agency.

The price of one mark for the whole labeling production of intellectual property will be 0.15 manat ($0.09).

Products distributed without these holograms will be considered pirated; and, in accordance with the Code of Administrative Offences of Azerbaijan, individuals, officials and legal entities will be punished by penalties in the amount of 50, 100 and 150 manats ($30, 61, 92) respectively.

The intentional destruction, falsification, illegal production, use and sale of control marks will be fined in the amount of 1,000 manats ($611) to individuals, 2,000 manats ($1,222) to officials, and 3,000 manats ($1,834) to legal persons.
