The announcement that Turkiye’s Baykar Makina has established a local subsidiary, Bayraktar Teknoloji Azerbaijan LLC, to produce unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in Azerbaijan is far more than a business story—it is a bold statement about strategic autonomy, technological collaboration, and regional security. Located in the Sumqayıt Industrial Park, under the management of the Development Agency of Economic Zones, this facility marks the first step toward an indigenous UAV production capability in Azerbaijan, a nation that has increasingly relied on drones as a decisive tool in modern warfare.
