German TV channel to broadcast first European Games live

The German Sport 1 TV channel will broadcast the first European Games to be held in Baku on June 12-28 live.

The upcoming Games are very important for Europe, an article published on the official website of the TV channel said, adding that holding of the first European Games in Baku, the largest city in the Caucasus, is not accidental.

The competitions will be held in 18 sports facilities that meet the highest international standards, the article said.

The article describes the Baku Olympic stadium with 70,000 seats. It was stressed that at least 65,000 spectators will attend the opening ceremony of the first European Games.

These Games are important for the German athletes because the athletes who will win these games will be entitled to participate in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent that will take place on June 12-28, 2015.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
