Azerbaijani government, opposition can discuss any issues

Meeting of the Azerbaijani government with the political parties have already become a tradition, says high-ranking official.
“Our meetings with political parties have become traditional. Two months ago, we discussed several issues, including the format and topics of such meetings,” Ali Hasanov, Head of the Political and Public Affairs Department at the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration said on February 12, AzerTag news agency reported.
During the meeting with some opposition parties, Hasanov noted that the government and opposition can discuss any issues, because these two institutions actually determine the fate of the present and future governance of the society, domestic and external policy of Azerbaijan.
He said some rational ideas were sounded at the first meeting, and those ideas were noted down by the Presidential Administration.
“We will return to these issues at our further meetings. Today we have not gathered to discuss a specific topic. Though, the issues to be discussed were not announced in advance, I think we will exchange views to ensure our further meetings to be more efficient, more targeted and specific,” emphasized Hasanov.
The meeting was also attended by Tahir Suleymanov, Deputy Head of the Public and Political Issues Department of Azerbaijan’s Presidential Administration, Elman Pashayev, sector head at the department.
Moreover, the meeting was also attended by Sardar Jalaloglu, Chairman of Azerbaijan Democratic Party, Asim Mollazade, Chairman of Democratic Reforms Party of Azerbaijan, Yusif Bagirzade, Chairman of the Azerbaijan National Independence Party, Ahmad Oruj, head of the Azadliq Party, Faraj Guliyev, Chairman of the National Revival Movement Party, Mirmahmud Miralioglu, Chairman of the Classical Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, Fazil Mustafa, Head of the Great Establishment Party, Gudrat Hasanguliyev, chairman of the United Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, Ali Aliyev, chairman of Citizens and Development Party, Elshad Musayev, Head of the Party Great Azerbaijan Party, Igbal Aghazade, Chairman of Umid Party, Gulamhuseyn Alibeyli, Chairman of the Aydinlar Party and others.
The first dialogue between the country’s authorities and the opposition was held on December13, 2014 with the participation of Ali Hasanov.
During that meeting, the sides discussed the issues related both to the Azerbaijani government, political parties and the activities of media outlets. Moreover, they had discussions on financing the political parties, providing them with headquarters, participation in the elections and other issues.
Both sides emphasized the great importance of continuing such meetings on regular basis in the future.
