Baku Olympic Stadium will host the matches of Azerbaijan’s Qarabag FC in the UEFA Champions’ League group stage.
FC Qarabag will first face AS Roma on September 27, Azertac reported. The match will be held at 20:00 Baku time.
Qarabag FC secured its place among Europe's elite clubs by eliminating København on August 23.
The Azerbaijani club will take on Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and Roma in the UEFA Champions League group stage as the draw was held in Monaco on August 24.
The schedule of matches is as following:
September 12: "Chelsea" - "Qarabag "
September 27: "Qarabag " - "Roma"
October 18: "Atletico" - "Qarabag "
October 31: "Qarabag" - "Atletico"
November 22: "Qarabag" - "Chelsea"
December 5: "Roma" - "Qarabag"
The FC is named after Azerbaijan’s historical region that is represents - Nagorno-Karabakh, the internationally recognized territory of Azerbaijan that neighboring Armenia keeps under occupation for over two decades.
FC Qarabag is among few clubs worldwide with a refugee status. After the occupation of Aghdam in 1993, the team was compelled to leave the hometown and settled in different cities.
