Uzbekistan to invest $54.5 million in infrastructure development

Uzbekistan will invest more than $54.5 million for development of the country's infrastructure until 2020 within a 5-year infrastructure development program approved by the government of Uzbekistan on October 19.

As many as 216 projects on modernization, technical re-equipment of testing and measuring laboratories, as well as procurement of equipment for the quality control in the process of products manufacturing will be implemented, according to the Review.uz website.

It will be required to invest more than $1 million for accreditation of 12 regional centers of test labs and for certification of Uzstandard agency on the international level.

The enterprises and organizations will have to implement all these measures on providing the modernization of the national quality infrastructure at the expense of their own funds.

Some 174 new standards will be developed in Uzbekistan until 2020, including 71 - in the field of agriculture and water management, and agro-processing, 43 - in mechanical and electrical industry, 17 - in the gas sector and others, according to the preliminary forecasts.

It is planned to implement a quality management system in the 408 enterprises.

Among the systems, the Uzbek government recommends to introduce such as ISO 9001 - Quality Management System; ISO 14001 - Environmental Management System; ISO 22000 - The system of food safety management; OHSAS 18001 - Management System of industrial safety; ISO / TS 16949 - Quality Management System in the automotive industry; GMP - Good Manufacturing Practice; ISO 50001 - Energy Management System; IMS - Integrated Management System.
