FM spokesman says Iran awaits reply from EU's Ashton
Iranian Foreign Minister spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast has said
that Iran is waiting for the reply from European Union foreign
policy chief Catherine Ashton, regarding the Islamic Republic's
proposals package on nuclear dispute, Mehr news agency
reported.
"We have made our offers to the P5+1 group, and now we are waiting
for the reply from Catherine Ashton," Mehmanparast said.
The spokesman said that the "Six Powers" can show their good will
by giving their positive response towards Iran's proposals.
Mehmanparast once again underscored that Iran's nuclear program
only aims at peaceful purposes.
In February during the nuclear talks in Almaty, the 5+1 group made
their proposals to Iran, and during the next round of talks in
Almaty, Iran has put forward its own proposals, instead of
responding to the previous ones.
The negotiations on the nuclear programme between Iran and the
'six' countries (U.S., UK, France, Russia, China and Germany) took
place on April 5-6 in Kazakhstan. At the end of the
negotiations,Catherine Ashton said the parties have not reached an
agreement.
The previous round of negotiations took place on February 26-27 in
Kazakhstan.
The U.S., and other Western countries and Israel suspect Iran of
developing nuclear weapons under the guise of a peaceful nuclear
energy programme. Tehran denies the charges saying its nuclear
programme is for civilian purposes.
