The status of the OSCE Office in Baku will be changed, head of the office, Koray Targay told journalists on November 26.

"As from January 1, 2014, the OSCE Office in Baku will be operating under the status of project coordinator," Targay said.

According to the office head, this decision was taken on July 26 at the OSCE Permanent Council.

"Discussions are underway between OSCE Vienna Secretariat and Azerbaijan in this regard," Koray Targay said.

Azerbaijan applied to the organization to change the status of its office in Baku earlier this year. The Project Coordinator will build on the valuable work done by the OSCE Office in Baku. The head of the Baku office will also be the Projects Coordinator.

The annual mandate of the OSCE Office in Baku has been valid since 2000.
