Permanent agency to control advertising should be established: Azerbaijani MP

The Committee on Cultural Issues of the Milli Mejlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan has prepared a series of proposals for a new draft law "On Advertising".

The draft law "On Advertising", prepared by the Economic Policy Committee of the Parliament, was also suggested for consideration in the Committee on Cultural Issues, member of Committee on Cultural Issues, MP Jala Aliyeva told Trend on Tuesday.

"Advertising is a matter of culture," Aliyeva said. "At this point there are many problems in the style and language of advertising. The draft law "On Advertising" should also be considered in the Committee on Cultural Issues of the Parliament."

She stressed that work of the agency for control of advertising should be spelled out in legislation.

"At the last session of Parliament we proposed to create a special advertising police.

A working group has been established to control the texts at billboards. But there is a need to fix it in legislative form and create an appropriate permanent agency," Aliyeva said.

The law "On Advertising", which is being prepared in Azerbaijan, consists of four chapters and 38 articles. It contains contemporary general and special requirements for advertising. The draft law is on the agenda of the autumn session of the Milli Mejlis.
