Azerbaijani lawmakers to attend NATO assembly`s session

An Azerbaijani delegation led by first vice-speaker of the parliament Ziyafat Asgarov will attend the spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly starting in Luxembourg on May 17.

The delegation includes MPs Siyavush Novruzov, Tahir Suleymanov and Malahat Ibrahimgizi.

The NATO PA spring session is expected to focus on the growing strategic importance of Asia and the implications for NATO; the technological advances that improve the survivability of troops in combat; and the greening of military. European Commission Vice-President Viviane Reding will debate data protection and cyber security with the NATO legislators.

Other issues at the Luxembourg meeting will range from the conflict in Syria, to missile defense and the strategic implications of shale gas.

NATO`s Parliamentary Assembly brings together members of national parliaments from allied nations and 28 partner nations and organizations.

The spring session of the NATO PA will end on May 20.
