Azerbaijani, Austrian presidents sign joint declaration in Vienna

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev was officially welcomed to Austria on May 13.

A ceremonial Guard of Honor was lined up for the Azerbaijani Head of State in front of the Hofburg Palace decorated with the national flags of the two countries.

Austrian President Heinz Fischer and his spouse Margit Fischer welcomed President Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva.

The presidents inspected the Guard of Honor as an orchestra played the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Austria.

Austrian state and government officials were introduced to President Ilham Aliyev, while members of the Azerbaijani delegation to President Heinz Fischer.

Following the official welcoming ceremony, both presidents met in private.

During the meeting, they praised development of the Azerbaijan-Austria relations in various fields, including political and economic ones.

The presidents noted the importance of high-level reciprocal visits in terms of development of bilateral ties between the two countries.

It was noted, that Ilham Aliyev`s official visit to Austria would contribute to developing relationship between the two countries.

Later on Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Heinz Fische signed "The Joint Declaration on friendly relations and partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Austria" in Vienna.

The same day Austrian President Heinz Fischer and his wife Margit Fischer hosted an official lunch in honor of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva in Vienna.
