Alessandro Safina to perform "Luna" in Baku

Renowned Italian opera and variety singer Alessandro Safina will give a concert at Baku's Heydar Aliyev Center.

Safina, who is one of the celebrities of classic music genre, is to perform some of his recognized hits, including "Luna" and "Besame Mucho".

Alessandro Safina, 50, a recognized Italian tenor known for his extraordinary voice, performance manner, beautiful songs and musical albums, from Siena, Italy. Dedicated to musical studies since his early childhood, Alessandro succeeded in getting enrolled at the Florence Conservatoire at the age of 17, starring in a number of opera performances all over Europe in later years.

His meteoric career launched with the prize he won at the Concorso Lirico Internazionale Contest in Mantova, Italy, in 1989.

The artist enjoyed performances at the world's leading concert halls, such as the Teatro Bibiena, Mantova, the Barbican Hall, London, etc. Along with some fascinating operatic pieces, Alessandro Safina is known for his duet performances with stars like Sarah Brightman, Elton John, Jose Carreras, Katia Ricciarelli and others.

Although Alessandro is entirely in love with classical music, he is also inspired by modern pop music like U2, Genesis, Depeche Mode and The Clash. He combined the two musical genres, classical and pop - thus bringing classical music closer to the people.

The mix of classic and popular music beautifully accomplished by Safina brought about a new genre known as Opera Rock. His "Insieme A Te" album released in 1999 succeeded in merging the opera, soul and musical features, whereas his Luna single conquered the hearts of millions world over.

"Insieme a te" was eventually released in over 30 countries, received gold in Brazil and Taiwan and became four times platinum in The Netherlands within a few months.

Along with singing career, Alessandro also starred in movies.
