Deborah J Carter Quartet to give concert in Baku

Dutch Deborah J Carter jazz quartet will give a concert in Baku as part of the Baku International Jazz Festival on October 24.

The live concert will be held at a center of Azerbaijani arts and music -International Mugham Center in Baku.

This year, the festival which attracts many famous foreign musicians to the City of Winds, will feature performances of such renowned music bands as Plunge jazz trio,Gabriel Grossi Trio, Irakli Koiava Duet, Antonio Lizana Group, and others, Azertac reported.

The event aims at showcasing Azerbaijan's long-running attachment to the American-born art form, a connection first established in the country during the 1950s and 1960s, during a time when jazz was outlawed by Soviet authorities.

Deborah J Carter was founded by American vocalist Deborah J Carter.

The musician travels extensively performing in jazz festivals, jazz clubs, seminars, and radio and TV shows in Europe and Asia with her trio or as a guest with various formations from solo pianists to large orchestras. While on tour, she has also given master classes all over the world.

The vocalist brings her multi – cultural experiences into music light through her style.

One of the most dynamic vocalists in the jazz scene has also released solo CD’s.

Her first,” ‘Scuse Me…”, is a flavorful combination of jazz, latin, blues, and gospel. This CD received rave reviews from the international press.

The vocalist also worked in theater in Madrid, then formed her own jazz quintet with whom she appeared in many jazz

She has been an invited guest on national TV and radio shows in addition to acquiring ample experience as a session singer for TV and radio commercials.

Besides working with her own group, Deborah loves to sing the great jazz classics as a guest artist with a number of established European, including the Berlin Opera House Symphony jazz orchestras, the Metropole Orchestra, the HR (Frankfurt Radio) Big Band, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra and others.
