Austrian president seeks to enhance co-op with Azerbaijan in non-energy field
Austrian President Heinz Fischer named three directions of
cooperation with Azerbaijan in the non-energy field.
"First of all, I am pleased to note that high-tech is available in
Austria in various fields. I mean the sphere of infrastructure,
railways, construction, health care and construction of hospitals.
We, as a friendly country, want to provide and are providing these
technologies to Azerbaijan," President Fischer said at a joint
press conference with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Vienna
on May 13.
President Fischer noted that Azerbaijan is a beautiful country, and
added that he sees tourism as the second sector of cooperation with
Azerbaijan.
"This is a characteristic feature of Austria. Here tourism is
developed at a very high level and is internationally known," he
said.
Further, the Austria's president noted other fields in which
Azerbaijan and Austria can expand cooperation, among which are
education and culture.
"Close cooperation has been established between universities.
Academies of sciences are very interested in cooperation. This is
another field. In addition, Austria also operates in the field of
preservation of cultural heritage. We know that the Austrian
architects are involved in the restoration work on some main
objects of cultural heritage in Baku. All these are good examples,"
President Fischer said.
