TRACECA creates system of multilateral permits

The participants of the TRACECA (Europe-Caucasus-Asia) transport corridor have agreed to develop a document to create a system of multilateral permits in international road traffic to develop the transit potential, the TRACECA website said.

The agreement was reached at a meeting of the permanent secretariat of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission, which took place in Chisinau on Nov. 5-8. A regional workshop and a practical training on TRACECA issues were held within EU-TRACECA project "Maritime ways and logistics processes."

"The project implementation on the development of electronic maps of roads in the South Caucasus and Central Asia, implemented with the International Road Transport Union will ensure the safety," the report says.

Taking into account the problems faced by aircrafts of TRACECA countries, a decision was made to sign a memorandum of cooperation during the tenth session of the commission.

TRACECA is an international transport cooperation program between the EU and its partner countries in Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia. It has a permanent Secretariat in Baku.

Currently, TRACECA member states are Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Moldova, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Ukraine and Iran.
