Baku 2015 to show organizational skills of Azerbaijan

The first European Games to be held in Baku will show Azerbaijan’s organizational skills, the head of the Baku Interbank Currency Exchange (BICEX) Farhad Amirbayov told Trend on May 7.
“First of all, it's a reputation project,” he said. “We show the country's culture, its organizational skills. We will show the so-called management potential. That is, the ability of the management system, not necessarily a state one, because this project involves plenty of private companies, to plan, coordinate its activities, set goals and implement them.”
Amirbayov said that gradual implementation of such projects improves the quality of governance.
“In addition, this is a sports event, the prestige, it means investments,” he said. “From this point of view, holding such an event is surely a positive factor.”
Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent that will take place on June 12-28, 2015.
There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.
Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
