European Games,opportunity to know more about Azerbaijan
Organizing the First European Games in Baku and attracting
attention to this large-scale sports event is not an easy task, but
Azerbaijan is successful in doing so, said Ivo Slaus, professor of
the University of Zagreb (Croatia).
All such events are very positive, it makes all people coming here
to know more about the country, he told Trend on May 7.
“This is the reason why it is good to have any kind of
international event," he said. "This is absolutely crucial.”
Slaus added that last time he visited Baku two years ago and
although it is not such a big interval of time, he sees great
progress in the country.
Baku 2015 is the first ever European Games, an exciting and
innovative multi-sport event for the continent which will take
place on June 12-28, 2015.
There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports
and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across
Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of
competition.
Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC)
in December 2012.
