Senegal restores its ambassador to Doha

Senegal has announced that it has reappointed its ambassador to Qatar, who had been recalled amid Gulf crises triggered by the cut-off of ties between Doha and four Arab states.
“Senegal has decided to send its ambassador to Doha back to Qatar,” tweeted Ahmed bin Saeed Al Rumaihi, Director of the Information Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Senegal on August 22.
The decision followed a phone call between Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and Senegal's President Macky Sall, Qatar's official news agency QNA reported.
The two leaders also discussed boosting relations in various fields and the recent developments in the Middle East, particularly, the Gulf crises.
In June, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain severed diplomatic relations with Qatar, accusing Doha of supporting terrorism.
The four states imposed a sea, land and air embargo on Qatar and presented a list of demands for Doha or face further sanctions.
A number of other counties including Mauritania, Mauritius and Senegal supported the boycotting countries and reduced the diplomatic ties with Qatar at different levels.
Qatar denies the accusations and contends that the blockade is in violation of international law.
