The Azerbaijan Composers Union and the Turkish Association of Science and Art ESAM have been working on a joint project titled “Mahnıdan – Sharkıya” for several months.

The main point of the project is for six Azerbaijani composers to write songs using verses from six Turkish poets and, in turn, six Turkish composers would compose songs using the compositions of six Azerbaijani poets.

Turkish composer which take part in the project were ecommended poems of Rasul Rza, Nigar Rafibeyli, Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh, Mammad Araz, Zelimkhan Yagub and Nariman Hassanzadeh.

Turkish composers Faruk Sahin, Zekai Tundzha, Pinar Koksal, Ugur Top, Ozgen Gyurbyuz and Yashar Bedyuk have already submitted their songs based on verses from the poets.

Accordingly, six famous Azerbaijani composers – Firangiz Alizadeh, Hasan Adigozalzadeh, Javanshir Guliyev, Jalal Abbasov, Sardar Faradzhev, Elsa Seiddzhahan – composed songs from poems sent by their Turkish colleagues Durmush Kaya, Nedim Ujar, Serdar Ondzhulya, Sevinj Atan, Sevim Yakydzhi and Ekrem Yalbuza.

The delegation of Turkish composers and poets will arrive in Baku on October 14. They will visit the Alley of Honorable Burial, Alley of Martyrs, as well as the Museum of History of Azerbaijan Composers' Union and the Azerbaijan National Library Writers Union named after Akhundzade.

The International Mugham Center will host a concert in which the audience will be able to see the results of joint efforts of the Turkish and Azerbaijani cultural figures on October 16.

The concert will be one more event that confirms the prophetic words of national leader Heydar Aliyev, "Two countries, one nation." It will strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and cultural cooperation between Turkish and Azerbaijani poets and musicians.
