Kazakhstan opens major mining and processing plant
Kazakhstan’s KAZ Minerals group of companies has announced about commissioning of the Bozshakol mining and processing plant in Pavlodar province.
“The first copper concentrate was produced at Bozshakol in February 2016,” read a KAZ Minerals message issued Feb. 25.
It is planned to produce 45,000 to 65,000 tons of copper and 50,000 to 70,000 ounces of gold at the Bozshakol plant in 2016.
The full designed capacity of Bozshakol’s processing factories will be 30 million tons of ore per year.
The Bozshakol mine’s service life exceeds 40 years. It is planned to produce 100,000 tons of copper and 120,000 ounces of gold a year in the first 10 years.
