U.S. named strategic partner of Turkmenistan

Turkmen delegation led by Rashid Meredov, the foreign minister and deputy head of the Cabinet of Ministers will take part in the Turkmen-US political consultations.

The corresponding decree has been signed by Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov, Turkmen media reported.

Turkmenistan attaches great importance to intensifying and expanding the fruitful cooperation with the US which it considers as one of its strategic partners, according to the reports.

The next political consultations between Turkmenistan and the US, as the message read, will become a new effective step towards promotion of intergovernmental partnership based on the continued goodwill of the parties and the mutual intention to continue to strengthen and develop it.

The priority areas of bilateral cooperation include trade and economic relations.

The development of these ties enjoys special attention of Turkmenistan and the US in the light of rich experience in cooperation and the existing profound partnership potential in various areas.

Transportation and communication, energy sector, agriculture, and innovation technologies are also among the promising areas of the cooperation between Turkmenistan and the US.

A significant aspect of the Turkmen-US relations is also partnership in ensuring global peace, security and stability, countering global challenges and threats, which are a matter of concern of all humanity.

In recent years, the administration of Barack Obama has set a course for harmonization with Caspian Turkmenistan. Ashgabat started to host exhibitions of US companies, accompanied by a high-level business forum and business negotiations.

Political consultations acquired a regular basis. Cooperation continues in such areas as the agricultural machinery supplies, modernization of the technical park of civil aviation of Turkmenistan, and imports of power equipment.

The White House also actively supports regional gas pipeline projects from Turkmenistan, in particular such as the TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) and the Tran-Caspian gas pipeline through Azerbaijan and Turkey to Europe.
