Kazakhstan sees rise in foreign currency deposits
The share of foreign currency deposits increased from 73.2 percent to 78.1 percent in Kazakhstan in late August, the Ranking.kz analytical service reported on October 7.
“The total portfolio of fixed-term and conditional deposits of natural persons amounted to 4.57 trillion tenge (272, 95 tenge = $1), 3.56 trillion of which account for foreign currency,” said the message.
Moreover, some 60.4 percent of deposits of individuals accounted for foreign currency deposits in August 2014, while 39,6 percent accounted for deposits in tenge.
The transfer of depositors to foreign currency positions has been recorded in all regions of Kazakhstan.
The city of Almaty showed the highest growth rate of foreign currency deposits of the population in August, 29.2 percent. The share of capital of the southern contributors accounted for 45.7 percent of the market compared to 42.3 percent in July.
