Azerbaijan Railways transports over 9 million tons of oil cargo

Azerbaijan Railways closed joint-stock company transported 23.1 million tons of cargo in 2012 compared to 22.1 million manat in 2011, Company head Arif Askerov said.

"Of the total volume of cargo, five million tons accounted for domestic cargo transportation, four million tons for export operations, 6.7 million tons for import operations, 7.6 million tons for transit cargo," the article stated.

Some 13.9 million tons of cargo were shipped from railway stations during the year, of which 9.1 million tons accounted for oil products. In particular, five million tons accounted for oil in transit.

The total volume of passenger traffic in the first half of 2012 reached 2.7 million. In particular, during this period, 2.6 million people were transported via railway stations.
