Azeri president meets European Commission VP
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Wednesday met Neelie
Kroes, Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for
the Digital Agenda.
Neelie Kroes said she was impressed by development processes in
Azerbaijan, and thanked the president for the excellent
organization of the 7th Internet Governance Forum in the capital
Baku.
Kroes noted the importance of digital mass media, development of
the free Internet and the E-government project.
The Azerbaijani president in his turn stressed the significance of
Neelie Kroes` participation in the Internet Governance Forum.
President Aliyev said the Forum was a result of Azerbaijan`s
achievements in the information and communication technologies
sector, and expressed his confidence the Internet and digital mass
media would continue developing in Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijani leader emphasized the importance of the country`s
work to establish broadband internet service.
They also exchanged views on expansion of cooperation between
Azerbaijan and the European Commission in a number of areas,
particularly the information and communication technologies.
