Azeri-Russian inter-parliamentary coop body meets in Baku
A session of the Azerbaijan-Russia commission for inter-parliamentary cooperation was held in the Azerbaijani capital Baku on Friday.
The 10th meeting, chaired by deputy chair of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani parliament) Valeh Alasgarov and deputy speaker of the Russian Federation Council (upper house of parliament), co-chair of the joint commission, Svetlana Orlova.
The ambassadors of both countries, Polad Bulbuloglu and Vladimir Dorokhin, attended the meeting.
The meeting considered the appointment of deputy chairs and changes in the commission staff, as well as prospects for expansion of humanitarian, economic, trade and legislative cooperation.
On the same day, President Ilham Aliyev met a Russian delegation led by Svetlana Orlova.
President Aliyev said the relations between Azerbaijan and Russia were developing successfully in all fields. He noted the role of parliaments in strengthening these relations.
The president underlined the importance of exchange of experience for development of bilateral cooperation.
Orlova hailed the development process in Azerbaijan, adding that it greatly impressed members of her delegation.
The parties exchanged views on issues regarding expansion of relations between Azerbaijan and Russia in various fields.
