Today is 3rd anniversary of liberation of town of Gubadli
Gubadli town was liberated from Armenian occupation on October 25, 2020, as a result of the Azerbaijani army's counter-offensive on September 27, 2020, Azernews reports.
During the Second Garabagh War, a crushing blow to the enemy forces in the Jabrayil district located in the east of the district and successful operations carried out in a short time in the Zangilan district located in the south allowed the units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces to enter the administrative boundaries of Gubadli district.
On October 26, in his address to the people, the head of state revealed the enemy's arms and equipment destroyed and looted during the Patriotic War, which lasted almost a month. At the same time, on October 25, together with the town of Gubadli, the Azerbaijani army destroyed Padar, Efendili, Yusifbeyli, Chaitumas, Khanlik, Sariyatak, Mollaburkhan, First Alibayli, Second Alibayli, Raband, Yenikend, Jabrail district of Zangilan district, Govshudlu, Sofulu, Dagh Mashanli, Kurdlar, Ovuslu, and Chalabilar villages were occupied.
Fierce battles were fought to liberate the town of Gubadli from occupation. Having broken the resistance of the enemy, the Azerbaijani army forced him to retreat and suffered a heavy defeat. During the Gubadli operation, a significant number of personnel and equipment of the Armenian army were destroyed.
The Republic of Azerbaijan has also established a medal "For the Liberation of Gubadli".
According to the order of President Ilham Aliyev, servicemen who participated in the military operations to liberate the Gubadli district from occupation and showed personal bravery and courage were awarded the medal "For the Liberation of Gubadli".
Let us remind that Gubadli was occupied by the Armenian Armed Forces on August 31, 1993. During the occupation, Armenians destroyed Gubadli town, villages of the district, vandalized religious, historical, and cultural monuments, cemeteries, and nature. The occupants committed ecological terror against the rich nature, flora and fauna of Gubadli by cutting down and burning forests, rare trees, and plants.
