The project to create a free Wi-Fi network in the territory of the Sumgayit Seaside Park was submitted to the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan.
The State communication operator Aztelekom told Trend that the work on Wi-Fi deployment in the park will begin immediately after the project is approved by the ministry.
“At the moment, the deployment of wireless Internet access is envisaged only in the territory of the Sumgayit Seaside Park," the company said.
Free Wi-Fi network already exists in the capital of Azerbaijan Baku. Its deployment is implemented by Baku Telephone Communications LLC. Today, 17 such networks operate in Baku parks, and the company plans to deploy a free Wi-Fi network in three more parks of the capital.
The Public Wi-Fi project has been implemented in Baku since March 2017 in order to expand the coverage of the wireless network of the capital city. The goal of the project is to provide residents and guests of Baku with access to the Internet in places of mass congestion.
To use the service, one will need to enable the option of Wi-Fi networks detection on his/her mobile device, select ‘Baku loves you’ network and pass through authentication process via the phone number.
