An extraordinary exhibition of decorative and applied arts has been presented at the Museum of Carpets in Baku.

The exhibition entitled "Beauty of Metal" is dedicated to 110th anniversary of People's Artist Latif Karimov and organized in the framework of the first international conference "The Turkic world and its patterns", Trend life reported.

The exhibition featured jewelry, weapons, smoking pipes and etc. made by 61-year- old Ganjivian master and artist Mubariz Akperov.

Drinking horns, smoking pipes, oriental daggers, belts and bracelets made by the artist mesmerize by techniques used in their formation. Each of them reveals impressive and unique features that are accompanied by their magical and secretive spirit.

Since childhood, Mubariz has been strongly drawn towards cold steel. As a child he liked to draw it and observe it in museums, but he never could imagine that someday he would become an armourer.

In addition to creative work, Akperov is also a researcher. He tries to reconstruct old Azerbaijani weapon patterns, their shapes and details, spending his free time in museums and archives.

Today, the artist's works are highly regarded internationally. In 2000, his saber won the top nomination in a competition dedicated to the passage of 1300 years since epos "Dede Gorgud". His crafts are kept in numerous local and foreign galleries in the UK, France, Turkey, UAE etc. countries
