Azerbaijan joins book fair in Seoul

SEBA Azerbaijan-Korean Cultural Exchange Association has realized another project in the Korean city of Seoul.

The city hosted the opening of the international book fair “Read the Culture, Read the World” organized by the Korean Publishers Association on October 7.

A total of 16 countries including Azerbaijan attend the book fair at COEX Centre.

Sixty seven kinds of books, magazines, catalogues, brochures, postcards, video and music discs etc., reflecting the ancient history, rich cultural heritage and national and moral values of the Azerbaijani people, are being exhibited at the fair.

The Azerbaijani stand, organized by SEBA (Seoul-Baku) Azerbaijan-Korean Cultural Exchange Association and the Azerbaijan Embassy in Korea, and with the support from the Azerbaijan Culture and Tourism Ministry, attracted the attention of the Korean public, as well as the other participant countries from the very first day.

The Book Fair , which aims to increase reading habits,present participant countries’ publications an make the world familiar with the capacity of Korean publishing industry, will last until October 11.

The book fair dates back in 1954 and was originally called the Seoul Book Fair. Later in 1995, the name was changed to Seoul International Book Fair.

The relations between Azerbaijan and South Korea cover many areas, particularly politics, economics, culture, and other fields.

SEBA, which seeks to realize large-scale cultural exchange programs between Azerbaijan and Korea, was established in 2004. So far, the organization has implemented several projects in the fields of science, health, and culture.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan’s marvelous Gabala and Korea’s Gyeongju have become sister cities.

Earlier this August, the Korean Film Festival featured 10 films in Azerbaijan within ten days.
