Yarat takes part in BakuTel 2013

By Nigar Orujova

YARAT is taking part in the 19th Exhibition and Conference Telecommunications and Information Technologies BakuTel 2013.

BakuTel 2013, the largest telecommunication and information technology exhibition in the Caucasus and Caspian region, is held in Baku on December 2-5.

YARAT, a non-profit organization promoting contemporary art, provides the visitors with an opportunity to see the works of young artists Faiq Ahmad and Farid Rasulov, who have represented Azerbaijan on several occasions in Venice Biennale, Biennale of Modern Art in Sharjah, and other major art exhibitions in Europe, the U.S., and Russia.

The theme of Azerbaijani carpet is uniting the two artists through the relationship of the old and the new in art and life.

Carpets by Ahmad demonstrate not just an attempt to get away from contemporary trends but also an attempt to rethink tradition in order to make them relevant to today's world.

Destroying customary designs, the author gives his own definition of each element and makes it relevant to the consciousness of the young generation.

Rasulov's video installations present a unity of opposite elements - Eastern luxury and European hi-tech style- which invade the world of an urban dweller. Images provided by the artists are fresh, original, and easy to read.

Both artists lead us to believe that innovative technology has turned into a communication tool between traditions and contemporary art.

YARAT is taking an active part in the BakuTel exhibition for the second time.

The exhibition includes a rich business program, various events, and many interesting activities.
