An exhibition of documentary photographs will open at "Natavan Gallery" in Baku on October 28.

The exhibition which will put the works of the participants of a documentary photography workshop held by two Russian photographers on display will open at 7.00 p.m. local time.

The project was held in the framework of the educational program of YARAT! Contemporary Art Space, an organization which has promoted contemporary art worldwide since 2011.

The exhibition is supported by Azerbaijani Youth and Sports Ministry and Bank Technique.

The exhibition will help to summarize a week-long workshop held by Russian photographers Oksana Yushko and Artur Bondar.

Yushko and Bondar have a record of executing projects in collaboration with some of the world's leading news agencies and magazines, including "Washington Post", "Le Monde", "Financial Times", "Guradian", "Wall Street", and "Stern".

Each of the 18 workshop participants has tried to discover the city of Baku that doesn't lend itself so easily to a stranger's eyes. This city only lives in the imagination.

Icheri Sheher. The Inner City. A city enclosed within the walls of an ancient fortress and a city hidden in our souls. This place is filled with colors and sounds that bring our souvenirs to life. The streets and buildings resonate with bittersweet memories. We all possess a city of our own that is dear to us. We all have this personal attitude to the urban landscape.

This group exhibition is the first collaborative project by YARAT, a non-commercial organization, and "Natavan Gallery", which was established this year as a platform for showcasing both traditional and contemporary art.

The gallery currently offers a broad selection of works by renowned Azerbaijani artists, and is planning to host exhibitions, forums and workshops in the future.

Natavan Gallery is located in Icherisheher, Asaf Zeinalli street, 6/9.
