Book on Azerbaijani-Georgian friendship presented in Marneuli [PHOTOS]
A presentation ceremony for the book "Azerbaijan-Georgia Friendship: Our Compatriots and Karabakh (1990–2026)" has been held in Marneuli, Georgia, AzerNEWS reports.
The event was organized as part of the "Our Compatriots and Karabakh" project implemented by the Borchali Public Union with the support of the Congress of Azerbaijanis in Georgia and the Agency on State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The ceremony began with a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs who lost their lives in the struggle for the freedom and independence of the two countries.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Congress of Azerbaijanis in Georgia, Huseyn Yusubov, highlighted the historical roots of Azerbaijan-Georgia relations and the longstanding friendship between the two peoples.
Project head and compiler of the book Deyanat Osmanli, a renowned poet and publicist, member of the Board of the Azerbaijan Writers’ Union and chairman of the Borchali Public Union, spoke about the significance of the materials included in the publication.
"This publication represents public support for relations between our countries. Our compatriots of Georgian origin have demonstrated great heroism in Azerbaijan's struggle for independence and in the restoration of its territorial integrity. Among them are dozens of martyrs and veterans, National Heroes, as well as individuals awarded various orders and medals. The cherished memory of all the martyrs will never be forgotten and will live forever," Osmanli said.
Other speakers at the event also emphasized the importance of keeping the compatriots who demonstrated courage in the struggle for their homeland in the public spotlight, publishing new books documenting their military service and contributions, and highlighting the role of such publications in fostering patriotism among the younger generation.
At the conclusion of the event, Huseyn Yusubov was presented with the honorary diploma "Honorary Figure of Borchali," while Ibramkhalil Tamiyev, an employee of Caucasus Turk Media and a member of the Azerbaijan Writers’ Union, received the diploma "Patriotic Intellectual of Borchali."
