Foreign media lashes Macron, says his policy contradicts efforts of Washington and Brussels

French President Emmanuel Macron publicly supports separatism and his position is not supported by any EU state.

This is noted in an article by the authoritative Bulgarian publication The Sofia Globe, Azernews reports via a reliable source.

Recall that this was acknowledged by the French leader himself, whose country has been engulfed in flames for the past week, saying that he will continue to make efforts, even if he is the only one in the international community with such an agenda.

In this context, Macron's policy in the South Caucasus completely contradicts the EU foreign policy aimed at establishing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. In addition, the EU depends on the supply of Azerbaijani energy resources. Therefore, now the French president in Europe is considered an obstacle, rather than a reasonable colleague.

As the newspaper notes, in May, The Wall Street Journal wrote that Macron's policy in the South Caucasus does not serve regional interests and contradicts the efforts of Washington and Brussels to achieve a peaceful settlement between Yerevan and Baku.

Armenian factor in France

President Macron has become a hostage to the radical elements of the Armenian diaspora, although they have little weight in the elections. The number of all French citizens who have the right to vote is about 600,000. This is only 1% of the total number of voters.

However, the president of one of the leading European nations is under the influence of Armenian radicals.

"Azerbaijan is not an aggressor in this conflict, but it became a victim of the inventors of the "greater Armenia" project. Now, based on the results of the Second Karabakh War, Azerbaijan is carrying out restoration work in the liberated territories. This provokes a furious reaction from the multi-million Armenian diaspora and certain French politicians who are subject to their influence,” emphasizes the Sofia Globe, referring to an analytical report published by the Ukrainian TV channel Pyatiy.

Opposition to the negotiation process

According to Armenian media, immediately after the European summit in Chisinau on June 1, Macron called the co-chairman of the Coordinating Council of Armenian Organizations of France Murad Papazyan and complained about EU officials, saying something like: “I am the only one who is interested in the future of Artsakh, and other participants in the negotiation process (including German Chancellor Scholz and European Council President Charles Michel) consider it an integral part of Azerbaijan."

As you can see, Macron seemed to report to the owner. And what is happening in the meantime in France itself? Pogroms and dissatisfaction with the authorities, but the French leader did not give a damn about his people and went to watch Elton John's concert.

Against this background, the central European and American media unanimously note the destructive role of Macron in the South Caucasus.

The London edition of EuToday specifies that "it is unprofitable for France to resolve the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict." According to the authors, this situation is due to the instability factor within the EU: "If the member states follow the policy of France, this means that a number of EU member states will independently recognize separatist entities, and possibly even recognize individual national minorities."

Thus, the policy of President Macron in the South Caucasus causes concern and criticism from not only regional players such as Azerbaijan and Ukraine, but also from other EU countries and the analytical community as a whole.
