Belarus uses the experience of Azerbaijan in attracting tourists for the second European Games to be hosted by Minsk.

Anna Mukha, the head of the marketing and tourism services department of the Tourism Department at the Sport and Tourism Ministry, announced about this on June 28, BelTA reported.

At the international tourism conference "Branding of Destinations: Innovative Ideas for Attracting Tourists", which will be held in Minsk on July 6-7, issues of attracting tourists to the second European Games will be mulled.

“At the upcoming conference, we invited a representative of the Tourism Department of Azerbaijan, Rauf Pashayev, who will share his experience in attracting tourists during the First European Games in Baku,” she said.

Belarus was announced the host country of the 2019 European Games during the 45th General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees on October 20-22.

A total of 4,000 athletes and about 2,000 officials are expected to attend the second edition of the Games.

The first European Games was held in Azerbaijan on June 12-28, 2015. There were a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. Up to 6,000 athletes from 50 European countries represented their nations over 17 days of competition.

Over 28,000 foreign tourists had visited Azerbaijan during the Games, after the host country eased the visa regime.

The majority of the foreigners who obtained tickets to watch the European Games were citizens of Russia, UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, the U.S., and the United Arab Emirates.
