Japan interested in assisting Georgia's economy

Japanese government agency voiced its interest in helping Georgia develop its agricultural, tourism and eco-tourism sectors.

Mino Sato of the Japan International Cooperation Agency revealed that organization aims to support Georgia’s development, in a meeting with Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture Levan Davitashvili on March 18.

JICA has developed a Regional Development Program as a result of close collaboration with the Georgian government, which will make ground for several projects' implementation in 2015-2016 to back the economic growth in Georgia.

The priorities of the program are promotion of Georgia’s agriculture and tourism sectors.

"We are ready to support cooperation between the two countries. We think that the Georgian and Japanese companies should more actively involved in a cooperation," Sato said.

Davitashvili, in turn, said it was very important for Japan to share its experiences with Georgia. He added that development of the agricultural industry is one of the priorities of the Georgian government.

The sides also discussed the possibility of implementing the "One Village – One Product" concept in Georgia, which was well approbated in Japan.
