Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus hold joint anti-terrorist exercises

Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus have held joint anti-terrorist exercises called Zhetisu Anti-Terror 2014.
As part of the exercises, forces of the three countries are
supposed to free the civilians captured by "militants", Russian
media reported quoting the CIS Antiterrorism Center.
The first stage of the exercises is being held in Zhetisu,
Kazakhstan from August 14 to 22.
The special divisions of Belarusian State Security Agency, Kazakh
National Security Committee, Interior Ministry and the Ministry of
Emergency Situations, Russian Federal Security Service, Defense
Ministry and National Atomic Corporation Rosatom are taking part in
the exercises.
The representatives of the UN Security Council's Counter-Terrorism
Committee, Interpol, OSCE, Regional Antiterrorist Structure of
Shanghai Cooperation Organization and Collective Security Treaty
Organization have also been invited to take part in the exercises
as observers.
The second stage of the exercises will kick off on September 9 in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Zhetisu Anti-Terror 2014 is the third joint anti-terrorist exercises organized by the CIS Antiterrorism Center in Kazakhstan. Previous exercises conducted by the center in Kazakhstan were Caspian Anti-Terror exercises in 2005 and Baikonur Anti-Terror in 2007.
