Georgia's EU integration mulled in Washington

Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze within her official visit to Washington met with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns.

The two sides discussed a wide range of bilateral cooperation, the ministry reported.

The meeting was focused on the regional situation. The sides discussed the issues related to Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic integration, the prospects of enactment of the free trade area with the EU and the dynamics of Georgia's EU-integration.

During the visit, Panjikidze also met with Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, with whom she discussed various issues concerning co-operation between Georgia and the U.S.

The sides also discussed the process of Georgia's European integration and the progress Georgia has made in this regard, as well as the upcoming signing of its Association Agreement with the EU.

The signing of the association agreement between Georgia and EU scheduled for June 27.
