Georgia’s CEC well-prepared for local elections

The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia is fully ready
to hold the municipal elections, CEC head Tamar Zhvania said after
the commission's meeting on April 15.
"The elections should be held in a peaceful environment. Some 71
sakrebulos (city councils) with total 2,088 members of sakrebulos,
as well as mayors of 12 cities and administration heads of 59
municipalities must be elected," she said. "The administration is
well-prepared to organize upcoming elections."
She appealed to the international and local observer
organizations and media to be actively involved in electoral
processes and timely register at the CEC.
The municipal elections in Georgia have been scheduled for June 15,
2014. The Foreign Ministry sent official invitations to the
international organizations to send observers to monitor the local
elections.
