Azerbaijan successful at Moscow gymnastics Grand Prix

Azerbaijani gymnasts successfully performed at Grand Prix 2014 Moscow, which was held on February 28 - March 2, Azerbaijan's Gymnastics Federation reported.

Azerbaijani national team, composed of Sabina Abbasova, Siyana Vasileva, Aliya Pashayeva, Diana Doman, Alexandra Platonova and Aynur Mustafayeva caused furor, performing under the "Blue Eternity" song of legendary Azerbaijani singer Muslim Magomayev.

Elegantly performing with the three balls and two ribbons, gymnasts received 16.95 points and won the silver.

First place went to the Russian team, who gained 17.83 points.

Azerbaijani team, performing in the first day of competition with 10 maces, won bronze medal, while the Russian team took first place and Bulgarian gymnasts became the second.

Head coach of the Azerbaijani team Mariana Vasileva said the 30th European Championship on Rhythmic Gymnastics, to be held in Baku on June 10-16, remains the main goal for Azerbaijani gymnasts, adding that they will perform at the Grand Prix in France, which will be held on March 6-9.

Azerbaijan will host the 30th rhythmic gymnastics championships in summer, 2014. This great event will bring together athletes from over 30 countries who will be accommodated in the future Olympic Village built for the first European Games 2015, to be held in Baku.
